How do I register for your driving school

Fill up the contact form. Call 905-537-2119, or send us an email on steerwisedriving@gmail.com

We currently only offer the online version of the course which is self paced and can be done at your own time from your house.We are currently working on implementing the in class sessions to our services

20 hours online with 10 hours independent homework, and 10 hours in-car driving lessons.

Please call your driving instructor 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson. Any day off cancellation will require a $50 payment for the late cancellation.

Typically it takes 2 -3 months to complete the program. Some people are more committed than others and can finish the entire course in less than a month. According to the MMTO, you must complete the entire course within one year.

Contact the Service Ontario Licensing Office to obtain a copy of your “Drivers Licence History” then send it to your insurance company. Paper certificates are no longer issued by the Ministry.

You are eligible to take the road test 12 months after getting your G1 licence. However, if you complete the full course with the MTO certificate, your wait time will be reduced to 8 months.

Yes, you may rent the car from your driving instructor at an additional cost

Yes, you have to make sure your car is in good working condition and safe to operate. Otherwise the examiner will cancel your road test. 

You can try again after 10 days. The MTO will allow you to retake the road test as many times as you have to until you pass.

One year from the date you got your G2 Licence 

Only students are allowed during in-car lessons for insurance and liability reasons.

Payment plans can be offered depending on the case. Please let us know and we can arrange accordingly.

We mainly serve Hamilton, Stoney creek, Ancaster, Dundas, Waterdown and Burlington. We do serve Oakville and surrounding cities for an additional charge.

Yes, you must pass your G1 knowledge test on your own before beginning in-car training. Once you have your G1, you’re ready to start your driving school in Hamilton

Absolutely. Completing a Ministry-approved BDE course gives you a certificate (Driver Licence History) that qualifies you for insurance discounts with most Ontario providers.

Most students finish the Full BDE course within 4 to 6 weeks, depending on their schedule flexibility and lesson availability.

Don’t worry—any missed in-class or in-car sessions can be made up in the following course (often at no extra cost), ensuring you don’t fall behind.

Yes. Our certified instructors are familiar with the Hamilton DriveTest Centre routes and surrounding roads. We make sure students practice on the same types of intersections, highways, and neighborhoods they’ll encounter on their actual road test, giving them a big advantage on exam day.

Once you pass your G1 knowledge test, you can begin in-car driving lessons right away with SteerWise. Students who also register in our MTO-approved BDE course may even qualify to take their G2 test in just 8 months instead of waiting the full 12 months, giving them a faster path to driving independence.

1. Payments and Refund Policy

Full payment must be completed before starting in-car lessons.
If payment terms are not met, services will be suspended until the balance is cleared.
If fewer than 2 hours of the online course have been completed, a cancellation fee of $50 applies. No refunds will be issued if more than 2 hours of the online course have been completed.

2. Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy

In-car lesson cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in a cancellation fee of $50.00 per hour scheduled.
If an unforeseen circumstance arises, such as a death in the family, the cancellation fee will be waived.

3. Scheduling and Lesson Start Times

The instructor will contact the student within 24 hours of receiving full payment to schedule lessons.
In-car lessons will begin within 3 to 14 days after receiving the full payment.
SteerWise provides free pick-up and drop-off at the student’s home address.

4. Student Responsibilities

Students must be ready at the agreed-upon time for in-car lessons.
A valid G1 license must be present for all sessions.
Students must complete the course online, and in-car components, within one year of the course start date as mandated by the MTO.

5. Course Completion and Certification

Students must achieve a minimum passing grade of 70% on all assessments to qualify for certification.
Upon course completion, students may request a Driver’s License History (DLH) from Service Ontario as proof for insurance purposes. Service Ontario charges apply.

6. Instructor and School Policies

SteerWise Driving School reserves the right to cancel lessons on short notice due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Any private agreements between students and instructors, without notifying the school, are not the responsibility of SteerWise Driving School
